Gayjoy Digest #6
Good morning and welcome to another edition of the Gayjoy Digest.
We’re here with your weekly dose of queer news, plus tons of events to keep your calendar booked with gay things all through the holiday season.
And just as a reminder: we’d appreciate it if you’d take a sec to add this email to your favorites (and mark it as “not spam”) to make sure it continues to hit your inbox.
Elliot Page posts a shirtless selfie
Over the weekend, Elliot Page posted an impeccable shirtless mirror selfie. If you’re unsure of why this newsworthy, I will assume you haven’t yet seen the photo.

This isn’t the first time Page has posted an excellent photo of his abs, but hordes of people continue to thirst. As of the time of this writing, the post has racked up over 1.9 million likes, plus comments from a range of big names including Mj Rodriguez, Niecy Nash, Mae Martin, Julianne Moore, Abbi Jacobson, and Ilana Glazer.
We love the celebration of visible transness, and we also love Elliot’s gold chain.
JoJo Siwa struggles to keep her eyes up
@betteportergallery, our favorite purveyor of celesbian gossip, recently surfaced a video of JoJo Siwa being interviewed before the “Women’s Image Awards” in early November. After greeting the interviewer with a casually-cool, “how’s it goin’?,” Siwa simply cannot keep her gaze from drifting. Repeatedly.
It is as if a magnetic force is pulling JoJo’s eyes down, though she really tries to keep them up. The effort is visible, even as she delivers the following advice to people who look up to her:
Honestly, my best advice that I like to give people is just be who you are. Never, ever be sad or regret doing something if you do it authentically to yourself. Life, you travel it at your own pace, and trust the world, trust the people around you, and just let it happen.
Later that evening, she was awarded the Rising Musical Star Honoree Tribute. Congrats, JoJo!
Cynthia Nixon keeps fueling rumors that Miranda’s queer in the reboot
Fans have been speculating that Miranda’s character will be queer in the Sex and the City reboot since the trailer dropped, and a recent shoot seems to have all but confirmed it. Filmed in Foley Square, the scene has Cynthia Nixon and Sara Ramirez right in the middle of an LGBTQ+ rally.
Some images, which feature signs with the hashtag #BLACKTRANSLIVESMATTER, seem to point to a storyline focused on the protests against police brutality last summer. But other photos, like the one above, show signs with less political messaging: I HAVE TWO MOMS!
We’ll find out the reason for this protest/rally soon enough, as the show premieres next week.
We’ll also find out Miranda’s reasons for attending. And if the reason is not “because she’s gay,” we’ll be very annoyed—especially after she was also spotted filming in this flannel, which is quite obviously a shirt made for a lesbian. Sorry, Steve.
Community Spotlight: Watch a short film by Ella Sahlman!
Link here: You Don't Have to Thank Me
Two queer exes reflect on their relationship after running into each other at a party. "You Don’t Have to Thank Me," directed by Ella May Sahlman, is a candid conversation that touches on a host of issues related to sexuality and gender identity.
Starring Lio Mehiel and Keren Abreu:

Amy Schneider made history by becoming the first trans contestant to qualify for Jeopardy!’s Tournament of Champions. She’s won the game a whopping eight times so far, and we’ll be rooting for her when she goes up against the other top 14 contestants of the year.
Following their exclusion of Sam Smith earlier this year, The Brit Awards have announced that they’re doing away with gendered categories.
Halle Berry’s new boxing movie is out. In the words of Autostraddle’s Carmen Phillips: If you’re anything like me and your main reasons for seeing Bruised were to see Halle Berry fight and make out with girls, you won’t be disappointed.
HBO finally dropped a trailer for Season 2 of Euphoria. They’ve also confirmed that it’ll be streaming on January 9, which is somehow only 5 weeks away.
