Demonic legislators let loose. Last Thursday, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed a ban on gender-affirming care for trans youth, in addition to a ban on public drag performances. Tennessee has now become the seventh state to ban gender-affirming care and the first state to ban drag. Unfortunately, last week was a very dark time for anti-trans and anti-gay legislation – read about the progression of other bills here. Meanwhile, in Iowa, hundreds of high school students staged a walkout to protest anti-LGBTQ legislation. For further context, check out this deep dive into the context of today’s war on drag. You can donate to the Trans Justice Funding Project, which redistributes funds to grassroots orgs around the country, here.
Lesbians support quitting smoking. Lesbian-aligned straight woman, Natasha Lyonne, has recently been posting on Twitter about her efforts to quit smoking. Thankfully, she’s not alone in this venture, as the elder lesbians have rallied around her. Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner (who share a Twitter account, of course), told Natasha “Chin up, darling,” and “The world needs your artistry and vision, so choose wisely for yourself.” Melissa Etheridge also chimed in with “Just like #RussianDoll you are amazing! You got this!! It’s so cool!!” Someone ask Holland Taylor her opinion on this.
Rebel Wilson is on the lam. New mom and gay fiancé Rebel Wilson was apparently banned from Disneyland for 30 days “after taking a photo in a secret bathroom,” reports Pop Base. When she’s not being a troublemaking Disney adult, Rebel is working on her new dating app called Fluid, whose tagline is “find love without labels.” This is, frankly, a confusing evolution in the dating app scene, which, by nature, is defined by one’s specific preferences. Would you download Fluid?
Time to go home, honey. This next topic is not so much a news item as it is a picture that has grabbed us by the lapels and shaken us into a gay stupor. Lesbian icons Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor attended Paris Fashion week recently, and they were spotted outside depicting one of the most hilariously domestic scenes we’ve ever witnessed. Holland grabs Sarah by her hugely oversized zipper as if to say “it’s time to go home, honey,” and Sarah lets herself be yanked along. Tag yourselves – are you a Sarah or a Holland?
