A chaotic Florida wedding and heartwarming news
A chaotic Florida wedding. Here’s another thing we didn’t have on our bingo cards for 2022: Olivia Mullins, the youngest member of the Tampa Baes cast who got a DUI during Season 1, got secretly married to her girlfriend Amanda last summer. The pair got married in matching white crop top/suit getups, and there was obviously a stripper pole at the reception. Some viewers noticed that Olivia was still wearing her ankle monitor during the ceremony, which she explained on Twitter they “slapped” on “right before the wedding.” If you never watched Tampa Baes (the lesbian reality show from Amazon Prime) we’re not quite sure we’d recommend it to you, but if this description of Olivia’s wedding is intriguing to you, maybe you should.
Some news to warm your heart. The cast of the Netflix series Hearstoppers attended a Pride event recently, and the photos are so adorable we might literally perish. The kids are alright. Speaking of kids, Raven-Symoné and her wife Miranda were profiled in Romper and spoke about their queer family unit, which includes them “birthing” creative projects together. Okay? Also, Becca Tilley, former Bachelor contestant and current girlfriend of Hayley Kiyoko, was profiled in The Cut, where she spoke about the experience of revealing her relationship to the world (Go Katie Heaney!)
Two worlds collide. Yellowjackets star Jasmin Savoy Brown cast The Wilds star Sophia Taylor Ali in her new music video for the song “goddamnit,” giving us the teen girl plane crash mashup we never knew we needed. The music video also features Brown’s Scream co-star Jack Quaid, her Yellowjackets love interest Liv Hewson, and Batwoman star Javicia Leslie. If you’re looking for something else to feast your eyes on, look no further than this silly interview with Iron Chef co-host (and hot lesbian) Kristen Kish and French lesbian superstar chef Dominique Crenn. If you didn’t know, Crenn is the only woman in the U.S. with three Michelin stars, and she also happens to be engaged to actress Maria Bello.
Other dispatches from the little gay people inside the internet:
Brittney Griner wrote an open letter to President Biden, urging him to fight for her freedom and asking that he (and we) not forget about her. We haven't.
Read about how Elliot Page’s character on Umbrella Academy was written in a way that reflects his own journey.
Cynthia Erivo “came out” as bisexual, which we already knew. We’re still waiting for an update about whatever is going on with her and Lena Waithe but we have it on good word - they are an item.
Check out this profile of MUNA in the New York Times, in which they all cry at some point during the interview.
Marvel has announced a new gay Spider-Man. We hope he slays his enemies, or whatever.
Until next time,
The spirit of a hot lesbian chef
